Numerous poppy wreaths have been set on hearth in Edinburgh hours after Remembrance Sunday commemorations.
The floral tributes have been destroyed on the Stone of Remembrance within the early hours of Monday, November 14.
Police Scotland imagine the blaze was began intentionally round 5am.
Footage on social media reveals the charred stays of the poppies.
Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was amongst lots of of people that gathered to pay their respects on the metropolis centre memorial on Sunday.
The Provost of Edinburgh described the assault as “disgusting and disrespectful”.
Robert Altridge informed Sky News: “Yesterday it was my honour to put a wreath on behalf of the City of Edinburgh to recollect those that served and sacrificed a lot.
“The vandalism found this morning not solely to the not too long ago laid wreaths but in addition Edinburgh’s Stone of Remembrance is disgusting and disrespectful.

Police Scotland officers are actually inspecting CCTV footage in a bid to collect info.
Chief Inspector Murray Tait mentioned: “Our enquiries are ongoing after poppy wreaths were set on fire at the war memorial in High Street, Edinburgh around 5am on Monday, 14 November.
“Officers are finishing up enquiries and gathering CCTV footage to seek out out extra info on whoever is accountable.
“I utterly condemn this appalling act of vandalism, especially at this time of year when remembrance services have just been held across the country.”
It is known the ruined tributes have been eliminated and can be changed by the charity Poppy Scotland.
