Rebecca Adlington has suffered a “devastating” miscarriage and says she is combating sepsis after emergency surgical procedure.
The former Olympic swimmer shared the heart-breaking information on Instagram, posting a photograph exhibiting her mendacity in a hospital mattress holding a cup of tea, with an IV line at the back of her hand.
In her message, she stated that she and her husband, facility supervisor Andy Parsons, found they’d misplaced their child throughout their 12-week scan.
Adlington, 33, wrote: “On Tuesday me and Andy went to hospital for our 12-week scan only to discover we’ve had a miscarriage which resulted in emergency surgery.
“I managed to go away hospital Thursday solely to be readmitted Friday. After a day of treating sepsis, a kidney an infection and a fever I’m slowly on the mend. Long solution to go however I’m in the proper place.”
Thanking hospital staff for their care, she went on: “It’s such a devastating time however vital in occasions like these we keep in mind we aren’t alone and have a lot help.”
Calling her husband “my rock”, she said: “We have not managed to course of all of it but however I do know with [friends and family’s] help we’ll get by way of it.”
