Prince William mentioned his grandmother could be a “proud mother” on the King’s coronation weekend, saying the late Queen is “fondly keeping an eye on us”.
The Prince of Wales took to the stage on the Coronation Concert after Lionel Richie – and could not resist joking that, in contrast to the star, he would not go on “all night long”.
After a day full of pomp, ceremony and traditions relationship again 1000 years – and a night of extra trendy leisure – he took a second to replicate on the late Queen’s coronation in 1953.
“As my grandmother said when she was crowned, coronations are a declaration of our hopes for the future.
“And I do know she’s up there, fondly keeping track of us. She could be a really proud mom.”
He additionally highlighted the “simple message” on the coronary heart of all of the pageantry of the coronation: “service”.
“My father’s first words on entering Westminster Abbey yesterday were a pledge of service.
“It was a pledge to proceed to serve.
