DhakaPresident Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday on his first official visit to Bangladesh. During this three-day visit, he will hold talks with his counterpart and will participate in the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the independence of Bangladesh (1971 Pakistan-Bangladesh War) from Pakistan in 1971.
This is President Kovind’s first foreign visit since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. He will represent India as the special guest at the 50th Victory Day celebrations of Bangladesh here. Reflecting the close ties, India is also organizing several events to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Bangladesh came into existence after this war.
