The world has come to know about a lousy act done by China in the South China Sea. A US expert said on Monday that a swarm of Chinese ships has been dumping human waste and dirty water in the South China Sea for many years. Because of this algae are being produced, which are harming the coral reef. Due to the damage to the coral reef, the existence of the fish living here has been threatened.
Lij Der of Simularity Inc., a software company that makes artificial intelligence technology for analyzing satellite images, said satellite images gathered over the past five years show how human waste, sewage and wastewater is transported in the South China Sea. thrown in. Because of this, it has been deposited near a group of rocks in the Spratlys region. Not only this, algae are being produced because of this. Hundreds of Chinese fishing vessels have anchored here in batches.
Threat to people’s livelihood
On June 17, a total of 236 Chinese ships have been sighted here. This area is known as Union Bank. Lij Der said that when ships do not move, waste material starts to collect from it. Hundreds of ships anchored in Spratly are dumping sewage onto the rocks. He said that this is a horrific incident and it cannot be compensated. He warned that the fish living here would die and this would threaten the livelihood of the people who depend on them.
China, the Philippines and Vietnam claim this area
Chinese officials did not immediately respond to Lij Der’s assessment of environmental damage. But he has said before that he has taken necessary steps to protect fisheries and the environment in the South China Sea. In addition to China, the Vietnamese army has also captured some coral outcrops in Union Banks. The Philippines also claims this. Eduardo Menez, assistant secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila, said the findings would have to be assessed and verified by the Philippine authorities before a decision can be made to register a protest against China.
