A person has been jailed for 10 years for a “vicious, feral and wholly murderous” near-fatal knife assault that has left his sufferer completely scarred.
Jordan Bald, 25, pounced on a person alongside the Union Canal towpath in Edinburgh following an altercation after a home social gathering.
Armed with a knife, Bald “rained down” repeated blows to the sufferer’s head and physique.
The man suffered 10 stab wounds and a fractured cranium.
A bicycle owner who witnessed the assault advised Bald’s trial he heard the sufferer plead: “Please stop, I have kids.”
However, Bald continued to strike him on the top with the blade a number of occasions after he mentioned this.
The sufferer suffered head, neck, chest, again, arm, elbow and hip accidents.
Wounds to his neck and proper widespread carotid artery and to his proper arm required surgical procedure. His chest and stomach wounds all carried a “high potential risk of danger of life”, in keeping with a choose.

Following a trial on the High Court in Edinburgh, Bald was convicted of assault to extreme damage, everlasting disfigurement, and tried homicide.
During sentencing on the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday, Lord Arthurson mentioned: “This was a vicious, feral and wholly murderous attack by you in which you rained down repeated blows with a bladed weapon upon your victim with, on any view, the clear intent to stab him to death, all as he begged for mercy.”

The incident occurred on the evening of 3-4 April 2021.
The bicycle owner who testified witnessed Bald leaping in the course of the assault to be able to get “more weight and force” into his strikes.
