The boss of a Kurdish smuggling ring has been arrested at Manchester Airport after occurring the run forward of his sentencing.
Tarik Namik failed to point out up at courtroom again in December and was handed an eight-year jail sentence in his absence, the National Crime Agency (NCA) stated.
The courtroom had beforehand heard how the 45-year-old from Oldham had been discovered to be the pinnacle of an organised crime group concerned in transporting migrants from Iraq and Iran to the UK at the back of lorries, the company added.
Four different members of his gang had been sentenced alongside him.

“Namik was a prolific people smuggler whose crime group put vulnerable migrants at great risk while he reaped the profits,” stated NCA department commander Richard Harrison.
“I’m delighted that he will now face justice for the offences he committed.
“Fugitives by no means come off our radar, and I’d prefer to thank our colleagues at Greater Manchester Police for his or her help in making certain he was detained rapidly the second he set foot again within the UK.”
Namik was as a consequence of seem at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and is more likely to return to the crown courtroom on Monday to be formally sentenced.
