Islamabad. Pakistan’s top investigative agency FIA has asked its immigration officials to remain alert at all international airports. At the same time, it has also been directed that the former Prime Minister of the country Imran Khan and no government official of his regime should leave the country without a no-objection certificate.
This information was given in a media news. According to the news of the newspaper ‘Dawn’, the FIA has taken this step after the removal of Imran Khan from the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan through a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament. FIA immigration personnel have been asked to remain vigilant at all international airports in the country and have been instructed to detain all government officials who attempt to leave the country without a no-objection certificate, the report said.
According to the news, the airport security force has also been put on high alert. It said that the screening of passengers traveling abroad has been increased. The FIA and airport officials said they have been instructed to remain vigilant and not allow any government official to leave the country without a no-objection certificate.
However, he did not say who gave him these instructions. Farah Khan, a close friend of Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, had left the country last week amid reports that she may be arrested if the new government comes to power. The opposition has accused Farah Khan of committing corruption at the behest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife.
Imran Khan has become the first prime minister of Pakistan to be ousted from power through a no-confidence motion. The united opposition has already declared Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif as its joint candidate. The lengthy meeting of the National Assembly was adjourned early Sunday and the House would resume proceedings at 2 pm on Monday to elect a new prime minister.
