Islamabad. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto is likely to be appointed as the next foreign minister in the new government. It is noteworthy that late Saturday night, Imran Khan was removed from the post of Prime Minister through a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament.
Geo News has reported that the positions of the Prime Minister and the President are important, while the question of who will be the External Affairs Minister in the new government is also important as the joint opposition has been repeatedly targeting the Imran Khan government for its “wrong” foreign policies. “According to rumours, PPP chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari may be appointed as the next foreign minister,” the news said.
Bilawal, 33, who studied at Oxford University, said in an interview to The Independent Urdu that the party would decide on his appointment as the new foreign minister. Bilawal Bhutto is the son of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and former President Asif Ali Zardari. He is the grandson of former President and Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Criticizing Khan’s leadership, Bilawal said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has made the Ministry of External Affairs and the National Security Committee (NSC) controversial. During a discussion on the no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan government in the National Assembly on Saturday, Bilawal had hit out at Khan’s foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, questioning why he was not present at the meeting of the National Security Committee, which was attended by Pakistan Tehreek-e. The so-called “foreign conspiracy” to topple the Insaaf Party-led government was discussed.
