In Pakistan, once again a person has fallen prey to blasphemy law of blasphemy. According to a media report, this person was detained in the capital Islamabad on charges of blasphemy. On getting information about this, the angry mob reached out to kill the person with sticks and iron rods. But when the police stopped doing this, the mob attacked the police station itself (Police Station Attack in Pakistan). This is not the first time the mob has targeted the police. Earlier, policemen were also beaten up by the mob during anti-French protests.
According to the Dawn newspaper report, dozens of villagers attacked the Golra police station in Islamabad. These people demanded from the authorities to hand over the suspect detained for blasphemy. A case has been registered against the detained person on charges of blasphemy and it is under investigation. It was told that a few minutes after the registration of the case, the police reached the police station with the suspect. Soon after, a huge crowd of people started gathering outside the station. The mob clashed with the security personnel and asked them to hand over the detained person.
The team of security personnel came and saved the lives of the policemen
The mob started damaging the offices of ‘Moharr’ (police cleric), investigating officers and the station in-charge. Earlier, due to such incidents in Pakistan, people accused of blasphemy have been beaten to death. During this attack, the police tried to protect themselves. Simultaneously, the suspect was kept in a lock-up. Seeing the situation getting worse, help was sought from the nearby station. After this, the police force, including personnel of the Anti-Terrorism Department, Anti-Terrorism Squad and Anti-Riot Unit, reached the spot and rescued their comrades.
Suspected sent to unknown location
The dispute continued between the villagers and the police for about an hour. It has not been confirmed how many policemen were injured in the attack. At the same time, there was a complete blackout in and around the police station. On the other hand, the police shifted the suspect suspected of blasphemy to an undisclosed location amid tight security. After this, the police laid siege to the area and various police teams started patrolling the area on foot. At the same time, all the routes leading to the police station were sealed. No more information has been provided about the person accused of Ishaninda.
