A homicide inquiry has been launched following the loss of life of a person in Lanark.
The 33-year-old was discovered unconscious on Smyllum Road at round 9.45am on Saturday.
Emergency providers attended the scene, however the man was later pronounced lifeless.
Detectives are treating the loss of life as homicide following a autopsy and say an intensive investigation is underneath manner.
Detective Inspector Vicki Douglas stated: “Our ideas are with the household and mates of the 33-year-old man who died on this incident.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the Smyllum Road area on Saturday morning and saw anything suspicious to please contact us.
“If you’ve gotten any CCTV or recording gear, please verify your footage as you could have captured photographs that would help our investigation.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area as our inquiries continue.”
