Coronavirus in Seychelles: The African country of Seychelles has given the corona virus vaccine to most of its citizens, but despite this, cases of infection are increasing here. Which has also worried the World Health Organization (WHO). The health ministry of this country has said that among those who have been found infected with the corona virus in the past week, more than one-third of them are those who have taken both doses of the vaccine. That is, they are completely vaccinated. The WHO (World Health Organization) has said that it is seriously reviewing the situation.
Most of the people found infected include those who either have not taken a single dose of the vaccine or have taken only one dose. Apart from this, not a single person has been killed (Seychelles Coronavirus Cases). Those who have a serious condition include those who do not take the vaccine. The population of this country is less than one lakh and 100 or 200 cases are being reported daily. A WHO spokesperson has said, “Our team is constantly reviewing the data, it is understanding the trends along with assessing the progress.”
57 percent got sugar vaccine
On Monday, the Health Ministry issued a statement saying, “The number of weekly positive cases was 120 on April 30, which increased to 314 on May 8.” There are two-thirds of people who have been found positive after coming in contact with an infected person. While 37 percent are people who have received both doses of the vaccine. In this country, 57 percent of the people who have undergone complete vaccination have been given the Chinese Sinoform vaccine. While 43 per cent got the AstraZeneca vaccine. About 60 percent of the country’s population has received both doses.
How effective is the Sinoform vaccine
The ministry has also said that 80 percent of the people who need to go to the hospital are those who did not get the vaccine or who were suffering from more than one disease (Seychelles Coronavirus Update Today). At the same time, WHO has said that in the third phase trial of Sinopharm Vaccine, it has been found that two doses given at an interval of 21 days are 79% effective against infection. While AstraZeneca said in March that its vaccine is up to 76% effective.
Emergency use was approved
The WHO has approved the use of the Sinopharm vaccine by emergency on Friday itself. After the approval, the same Sinofarm vaccine will also be extended to poor countries under the WHO’s Kovacs initiative (How Many Covid Cases in Seychelles). Talking about Seychelles, a total of 8,200 cases of Corona virus have been reported here so far. In this country, the cases started decreasing from May 7-8. But the transmission rate is still high, which is a matter of concern.
