The authorities should abandon any plans to detain and deport kids underneath controversial new migration legal guidelines, MPs have warned.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “Through the Illegal Migration Bill, we’ll cease the boats by detaining those that come to the UK illegally and swiftly returning them to a protected third nation or their dwelling nation.
“It is only right that we protect the most vulnerable by not creating incentives for criminal gangs to target specific groups.
“We have amended the invoice to clarify that an unaccompanied little one underneath 18 can solely be eliminated in very restricted circumstances.
“Where a removal decision is made, detention will be for the shortest possible time with necessary support provisions in place.”
