A person has died after falling from a bridge into the Thames whereas he was being arrested, police have mentioned.
A patrol automobile was flagged right down to cease the place a person and lady have been concerned in a “verbal altercation” on Kingston Bridge in southwest London at round 10.30pm on Friday evening.
After an allegation of theft, officers started arresting the person – however he entered the water.
Police say the person, who is believed to have been in his 20s however has not been publicly named, was not in handcuffs on the time.
The hearth brigade, RNLI, the Metropolitan Police’s marine unit and a helicopter have been known as to assist rescue the person and his physique was pulled from the water round two hours later.
Paramedics tried to resuscitate him, however he was pronounced useless. His household has been informed.
A cordon remains to be in place on Kingston Bridge, and inquiries are persevering with.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, the police watchdog.
