In such a situation, the Modi government has decided to send four central ministers to review the status of their evacuation. Apart from this, the government has announced to increase the number of flights to bring back students and not only Indian students but also students from neighboring and developing countries will also be brought back. The Modi government has also announced to send relief supplies to Ukraine as humanitarian aid.
On the other hand, the situation in the warzone is becoming very serious and Indian students say that they are facing problems at border checkpoints and they are not being allowed to cross the border. Some Indian students have been stranded on the Shehyani-Medica border between Ukraine and Poland for the past 72 hours and are waiting for their turn to be evacuated.

Union Minister as Special Representative
In a meeting chaired by PM Modi, four Union Ministers are being sent to review the current situation, which will ensure the safe return of the students. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Union Ministers Hardeep Puri Hungary, Kiren Rijiju Slovakia, Jyotiraditya Scindia Romania and General (Retd) VK Singh will supervise the evacuation of students from Warzone in Poland. All these Union ministers will go to these countries as special representatives.
Eight thousand Indians have left
Air India has so far sent six flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Bucharest in Romania, Budapest in Hungary, from which 1396 Indians have been brought back. Eight more flights are planned at these places. Apart from this, there are plans to start a flight to Warsaw of Poland. Apart from Air India Group, Indigo and SpiceJet have also announced flights to Europe. There were about 20 thousand Indians in Ukraine, out of which according to the government 8 thousand people have reached back to safe places.

Students are facing problems in crossing the border of Ukraine
In the midst of the intensifying fight between Russia and Ukraine, the problems of Indian students are also increasing. A student from Vadodara (Gujarat) stranded in Ukraine told The Indian Express that since Friday evening he has been waiting to cross the border here in freezing cold but the border guards of Ukraine are not allowing him to go to Poland. The student told that the girls and boys have been separated and some girls were allowed to leave after 40 hours but not a single Indian was allowed out of them. Indian students are being harassed, beaten up and asked to return to universities. Gyanish Patel of Vadodara managed to exit Ukraine after 36 hours from Shehyani check post along with his friend despite being cleared to cross the check post.

Government of India issued advisory for students
Many such videos have surfaced on social media in which Indian students have reached the borders to go from Ukraine to Poland and Romania but they are not being allowed to leave and they are pleading for help. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Arvind Bagchi said that Indians should move towards Western Ukraine but they should not go towards the borders first. First of all, they should look for any hideout in the cities located near the border. Bagchi said the government had identified a rail route from Uzhhorod in western Ukraine to Budapest. Apart from this, a new route has also been identified from Moldova. The Indian Embassy in Kiev (the capital of Ukraine) says that the citizens and authorities of Ukraine are helping Indian citizens.
