new Delhi: The Indian Embassy in Ukraine on Sunday issued a fresh advisory asking Indian citizens to leave the country temporarily if their stay is not necessary. The advisory has been issued in the wake of rising tensions between the countries associated with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Russia over the Ukraine crisis.
“In view of the growing tensions and uncertainties surrounding Ukraine, all Indian nationals, whose stay is not required, and all Indian students are advised to temporarily leave Ukraine,” the embassy said. The embassy said commercial flights, and charter flights, could be taken from Ukraine for “orderly and timely departures”.

According to an official document for the year 2020, there was a limited number of NRIs in Ukraine and about 18,000 Indian students were studying in that country. The United States and its allies are criticizing Russia for its troops gathering near the Ukrainian border. The US has already sent additional troops to Europe to help its allies amid fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. (agency)
