Tehran: Thousands of car and motorbike riders took part in a parade Friday to commemorate the 43rd anniversary of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, although pedestrians were reduced for the second year in a row due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. Just got out. In the capital Tehran, processions started from several places, taking various routes to reach ‘Azadi Square’.
The anniversary is being celebrated at a time when talks with world powers are underway in Vienna to restart Iran’s nuclear deal. Iran has gradually reneged on its commitments in response to former US President Donald Trump pulling out of the deal in 2018 and reimposing sanctions. Crowds gathered to celebrate the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution were waving the Iranian flag and shouting slogans. They had placards in their hands that read “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” For the second year in a row, due to the pandemic, the ceremony was confined to a vehicular procession.
