A British nationwide has been killed whereas volunteering as a medic in Ukraine.
Craig Mackintosh’s sister Lorna mentioned he had misplaced his life “in the line of duty”.
In a GoFundMe set as much as deliver his physique residence she revealed that he had been killed in Ukraine on 24 August.
“Please help us bring this war hero home,” Ms Mackintosh wrote.
“Our brother bravely volunteered to go to (Ukraine) as a medic to assist save lives on this struggle torn nation.
“In the line of duty, helping others he lost his life. This selfless man is currently stranded in a morgue in Ukraine and there is no help to get him home.”
She mentioned it might price round £4,000 to deliver his physique again to the UK.
“We have spoken to an international funeral provider and it’s going to cost around £4,000 to have him repatriated back to the UK.
“He gave his life to avoid wasting others and he wants to return again residence to have the service he deserves. A real hero’s service surrounded by his household and associates. Please, please assist to deliver our hero residence.”
As of Wednesday night, the GoFundMe had exceeded its goal, elevating £4,590.
An FCDO Spokesperson advised the PA information company: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Ukraine and are in contact with the local authorities.”
