Prime Minister Imran Khan has been troubled by the ever-increasing inflation in his country, Pakistan. They do not understand how to control this inflation. Now the steps he has decided to take will be for the first time in the history of Pakistan. PM Imran has instructed his team to fix the price of essential items by bringing a bill. The Imran government believes that the provincial governments have failed to curb inflation.
The government will decide the price
The steps that Imran Khan is thinking of taking can prove to be unsuccessful due to constitutional limitations. A draft has been prepared by the Imran government. This draft is for the Pakistan Food Security Flow and Information Ordinance 2021.
This information has been provided by PM Imran’s office. If President Arif Alvi issues this ordinance, then the Pak government will have the power to fix the prices. At the same time, the government will also be able to get information about the supply and demand of essential grains.
Wheat shortage again this year
This news has come at a time when there is an estimated shortage of two million metric tons of wheat in Pakistan this year. Apart from this, there is a competition between Sindh and Punjab government to get more and more grains. According to sources, after this ordinance, the government will be able to fix the prices of essential things like wheat and sugar.
According to the draft made, a committee will be formed with the Chief Ministers of the province under the chairmanship of PM Imran Khan. The Chief Minister will join it as a member. The management committee will hold a meeting twice a year. In this meeting, prices will be assessed and then the prices of important things will be decided.
Provision for punishment
An executive committee will be formed which will include the Chief Federal Secretary, National Food Security and Research. The Executive Committee will meet once a month to ensure that the decision taken by the management is implemented properly or not.
It has also been proposed that if any Federal or Provincial Department refuses to give information, then there will be a provision of punishment or fine of up to six months on the person.
Citing sources, the Pak media has said that this idea has been opposed by the Law and Justice Ministry. The ministry says that this decision is irrational due to constitutional limitations.
According to the ministry, control over agriculture and prices falls within the provincial border. If sources are to be believed, the Law Ministry will only agree to this proposal if it is cleared from the PM’s office.

Import of wheat once again
The draft ordinance indicates that Imran Khan wants to handle an administrative issue under the law. The crisis of wheat and sugar is increasing in Imran’s government. After coming to power, the Imran government gave a decree to export both these goods.
For the current year, the government had set a target of 27 million metric tonnes of wheat production. According to sources, according to preliminary figures, only around 26.25 million metric tonnes have been produced. That is, 750,000 metric tons of personnel have come in it.
It has been estimated by the Federal Food Ministry that at present the production of wheat is around 28 million tonnes, including the needs of the seeds. According to an Imran government official, the country may have to import 1.5 to two million metric tons of wheat once again this year.

Last year also imports
This will be the second consecutive time that wheat will be imported under Imran’s rule. Last year, 2.5 million metric tonnes of wheat were imported. A good amount of wheat was smuggled from Afghanistan to Afghanistan.
Last week, the Sindh government of Pakistan has increased the minimum prices by Rs 2000 for every 40 kg of wheat purchased. Last year it was around 600 rupees, which means it has increased by 43 percent.
