Imran Khan’s government in Pakistan has now started trying to kill people living in Balochistan province with hunger and thirst. Actually, the reason behind this is the Burj Aziz dam project located in Naski district (Nushki) of the province. Actually, the leaders of ‘United Tribes All Party’ of the province have told the government that the government should stop this project. If this does not happen, this dam will turn the agricultural land of Naski district into a desert and people will have to lose their jobs.
Leaders of ‘United Tribes All Party’ said that the Burj Aziz Dam project is a matter of life and death for the people living in this area. He said that the people of Naski and Chagai districts have been opposing this dam project since 1980, when it was proposed by the government. These leaders said that the government’s intention is to build a dam on the Bor-Nullah River. This river serves to water the fields in Dak and other areas. It is also a source of livelihood. Since 1980, this project hangs like a sword on the head of the people here.
Government should stop the project to save people from starvation
Party leader Asif Jamaldini said that the government wants to build this dam only to provide water to Quetta city and its surrounding areas. But it would be a great injustice if the people of both the districts are deprived of the opportunity to cultivate their land to earn their livelihood. The leaders said that the government should look at any other option to provide water to the people of Quetta. The government should stop the Burj Aziz Dam project to save the people of Nasci and Chagai from starvation. He warned Sarakar that if the situation deteriorates here, it will be the responsible government.
Endowed with mineral wealth, but deprived of basic amenities
Leaders of the United Tribes All Party said that the mineral-rich Chagai and Nuski districts are making significant contributions to the country’s economy through gold, silver, copper, iron ore and other precious minerals. But in spite of all this, their districts are deprived of basic facilities. He said that there is no mineral college or university in these districts. The winning leaders from here also do not think about setting up any mineral based factory in this area. The government has just left us to our circumstances.
