Scotland’s first minister has stated his parents-in-law are “trapped” in Gaza and is fearful whether or not they’ll “make it through the night or not”.
The mother and father of Humza Yousaf’s spouse Nadia El Nakla have been in Gaza visiting household when Hamas launched a shock assault on Israel on the weekend, killing a whole bunch, in line with studies.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Mr Yousaf stated: “As many will know, my wife is Palestinian. Her mum and dad, my in-laws, who live in Dundee, live in Scotland, they’ve been in Gaza and are currently trapped in Gaza, I’m afraid.”
The trapped couple went to go to the 93-year-old mom of Mr Yousaf’s father-in-law when the Hamas assault passed off.
They have since been instructed by Israeli authorities to go away as a result of “Gaza will effectively be obliterated”, the primary minister stated.

Mr Yousaf, who issued an “unequivocal condemnation” of the Hamas assault, stated: “Despite the very best efforts of the British Foreign Office, no one, no one can assure them protected passage anyplace.
“So, I’m in a situation where, frankly, night by night, day by day, we don’t know whether or not my mother-in-law and father-in-law – who have nothing to do, as most Gazans don’t, with Hamas or with any terror attack – whether they will make it through the night or not.”
The first minister stated each he and his spouse “cannot sleep” attributable to fear for her mother and father.
He stated: “We cannot sleep – we are constantly watching our phones.
“When our messages do get by way of, we’re ready for a reply.”
He added: “I’m anxious about my household. There can be many individuals, together with in Scotland’s Jewish group for instance, who can be actually anxious about their household in Israel which have come to hurt.
“My thoughts go out to everybody, because innocent civilians have nothing to do with the conflict, they have nothing to do with Hamas terror, have nothing to do with the loss of life and they’re the ones often – innocent people – who are paying the price.”
