The BBC has stated it takes “any allegations very seriously” following claims that one among its male presenters paid an adolescent greater than £35,000 for sexually specific photographs.
The unnamed “household name” allegedly first requested pictures from the youth after they had been aged 17 again in 2020 and has made a sequence of funds through the years, in keeping with The Sun.
It stated the BBC has now launched an investigation and brought the star off air after the household made a criticism on 19 May.
No one concerned has been named.
The mom of the youth, now aged 20, informed the newspaper that she had seen checking account statements exhibiting funds totalling greater than £35,000 – together with one lump sum of £5,000.
She claimed the presenter requested “performances” and that her offspring had used the money to fund an habit to crack cocaine – which had “destroyed” their life.
“All I want is for this man to stop paying my child for sexual pictures and stop him funding my child’s drug habit,” she informed The Sun.
In an announcement, a BBC spokesperson stated: “We treat any allegations very seriously and we have processes in place to proactively deal with them.
“As a part of that, if we obtain data that requires additional investigation or examination we are going to take steps to do that.
“That includes actively attempting to speak to those who have contacted us in order to seek further detail and understanding of the situation.”
They added: “If we get no reply to our attempts or receive no further contact that can limit our ability to progress things but it does not mean our enquiries stop.
“If, at any level, new data involves mild or is offered – together with by way of newspapers – this might be acted upon appropriately, in step with inner processes.”
