Tori Bowie, a former world champion sprinter, has died on the age of 32.
Bowie, from the US, gained gold within the 100 metres through the World Championships in 2017, after claiming podium finishes on the Rio Olympics in 2016 – together with as a part of the successful 4x100m relay crew.
In an announcement, her administration stated: “We’re devastated to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away.
“We’ve lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion…a beacon of light that shined so bright!
“We’re really heartbroken and our prayers are with the household and pals.”
World Athletics stated: “World Athletics is deeply saddened by the passing of Tori Bowie, the 2017 world 100m champion and multiple Olympic medallist.
“Condolences exit to her household and pals.”
In 2015, she gained bronze within the World Championships, and at Rio that following 12 months, she was second place within the ladies’s 100m and third within the 200m.

Three years later she ran within the 2019 World Championships, however didn’t make the US squad for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Responding to the information, two-time world 200m champion and US document holder Noah Lyles wrote on Twitter: “This breaks my heart to hear, and I will keep the family in my prayers.”
Jamaica’s three-time Olympic champion Shelly Ann Fraser-Pyrce wrote: “My heart breaks for the family of Tori Bowie. A great competitor and source of light. Your energy and smile will always be with me. Rest in peace.”
