A preferred walrus within the Norwegian capital has been put down by authorities as a consequence of fears she posed a threat to folks.
Freya, a 600kg animal named after the Norse goddess of magnificence and love, grew to become recognized in current weeks for antics together with climbing onto small boats and sinking them.

But Norway’s Directorate of Fisheries stated she was put down early on Sunday “based on an overall assessment of the continued threat to human safety”.

“Therefore, the directorate has concluded, the possibility for potential harm to people was high and animal welfare was not being maintained.”
The directorate stated on Friday that there was proof of individuals having thrown issues on the walrus, bathed alongside her, and brought photos close to the sting of the water near her.
The directorate’s head Frank Bakke-Jensen stated different choices have been thought-about for Freya, together with shifting her to a different place.
But it was determined this was not a viable choice.
