Former RTE correspondent Charlie Bird has died aged 74 after a protracted battle with motor neurone illness.
Bird was chief information correspondent with RTE News till January 2009, earlier than later retiring in 2012.
The veteran broadcaster reported on a spread of tales, from the Northern Ireland peace course of to the Stardust hearth tragedy in 1981.
