The closing set of stamps that can function the late Queen’s silhouette has been unveiled by Royal Mail.
Queen Elizabeth II’s image will seem on the set of distinctive stamps which mark the one hundredth anniversary of the steam locomotive the Flying Scotsman.
There will likely be 12 stamps depicting the well-known practice in varied areas throughout the UK, together with crossing the Ribblehead Viaduct in North Yorkshire, and at London’s Victoria Station.
There may even be a set of 4 small stamps, which function photos of the Flying Scotsman and LNER (London North Eastern Railway) poster paintings from the Nineteen Twenties and ’30s – when it first started travelling on British rails.
Royal Mail spokesman David Gold mentioned the Flying Scotsman is a “national treasure of engineering” and a design that “conjures up the golden age of steam travel”.
He mentioned the stamps embody “the romance of rail travel and is loved” by individuals worldwide.
“We are honoured to mark this landmark milestone with a set of special stamps,” he added.
David Gentleman, a stamp illustrator, designed the stamps, which had been tailored from Mary Gillick’s 1952 effigy of Elizabeth II, which has appeared on particular stamps since 1968.
