External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday met European Union Commissioner for International Partnership Jutta Urpilainen. During this, Jaishankar discussed in relation to the COVID challenge and access to the same vaccine (Coronavirus Vaccine) and also underlined the importance of a proper travel arrangement. Jaishankar reached Italy from Greece on Monday during a two-nation tour.
Sharing his picture with Jutta Urpilenen, Jaishankar tweeted and said, ‘Discussed the COVID challenge, our connectivity partnership and development cooperation. Also underlined the importance of equitable vaccine access and a proper travel arrangement. The Indian External Affairs Minister also met with Mathias Cormann, Secretary General, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and discussed India-OECD bilateral cooperation.
Jaishankar meets South African counterpart
The OECD is an intergovernmental economic organization of 38 member states, established in 1960 to promote economic progress and world trade. Apart from this, in another meeting, Jaishankar discussed the concerns of equal access to vaccine with his South African counterpart Naledi Pandor. The External Affairs Minister also shared the picture of his meeting with him on Twitter.
G20 meetings
These meetings were organized on the sidelines of G20 ministerial meetings. The G20 is an influential bloc that brings together the world’s major economies. The G20 summit is scheduled to be held in Italy in October. India is expected to preside over the G20 in 2022. The G20 member countries are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, India and Indonesia. Apart from this, Italy, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, America and European Union are also part of it.
