Explosions have been heard in Kyiv because the Ukrainian capital got here underneath an air assault, its mayor has stated.
Authorities in Kyiv have urged residents to remain in shelters, within the first reported assault on the town since late September.
Kyiv’s mayor Vitali Klitschko posted on Telegram: “Strong explosions were heard on the left bank of the capital.
“According to preliminary data, the anti-aircraft ballistic missile forces labored. The anxiousness continues. Stay in shelters!”
There was no rapid data on if there have been any casualties, based on Reuters.
Air alerts for Kyiv and a close-by area have been introduced simply minutes earlier than the explosions have been heard.
The reported assault comes after Russia stated it downed two Ukrainian drones over its territory.
“Anti-aircraft units intercepted lethal drones over the territory of Smolensk and Moscow regions,” the Russian defence ministry posted on Telegram.
It stated the incidents occurred at about 11pm native time on Friday (8pm UK time).
