A pensioner in Maidstone obtained a shock when a video doorbell notification arrived – exhibiting an emu peering into the lens at her entrance door.
The pet, named Rodney, had escaped within the appropriately-named city of Loose, close to Maidstone, Kent, when he approached the entrance door and rang the bell.
The video reveals Rodney strolling up the driveway and prodding the door along with his beak, earlier than kicking a close-by plant pot.
Later, three individuals might be seen rescuing the animal by stalking it up the driveway. One of them then strikes ahead and wraps his arms across the emu, steering him to security.
Maureen Roberts, 81, was having lunch together with her daughter and “couldn’t believe it” when she noticed the emu on the door on the digicam.
“My dog was at home in the front room at the time,” she stated. “I don’t know what he would’ve thought seeing a giant bird like that.”
Her neighbour had alerted her to the sudden customer however she’d dismissed their name as a prank.
“I thought she was winding me up and I laughed it off,” she added. “But it turned out she wasn’t joking.”
