Demonstrations have continued since the military coup in Myanmar last month. On Sunday, doctors and healthcare workers demonstrated in the country’s second-largest city, Mandalay, as part of a widespread civil disobedience movement in protest against the coup. However, the security forces did not take action against the protesters during this period. But in another part of the country, the security forces resorted to violence to control the demonstrations. One person was also killed in the firing on the protesters.
Around 100 doctors, nurses, medical students and pharmacists wearing white coats appeared shouting slogans on a road in Mandalay. He raised his voice against the military coup and raised fierce slogans. The situation in Myanmar has been very bad since the military coup on 1 February. The army toppled the government of Aung San Suu Kyi elected by the people and took control of power. Since then, many countries around the world, including the US, have imposed restrictions on military leaders in Myanmar.
Placards put on the streets to protest against the army
Mandalay has emerged as a center of military opposition since the military coup. In the afternoon on Sunday, the engineers of the city also protested against the army in a different way. They put placards with slogans written against the army on the streets in a line. During this time only these placards were present on the road and no protesters were present there. This method is called ‘no-human strike’. This is being done in many major roads and public areas of Mandalay.
Boycott, people resorting to strike for boycott of army
At the same time, a video of the action taken on the protesters on Sunday is going viral. It can be seen that the security forces are shooting a motorcycle rider. Through the Civil Disobedience Movement, there is a demand to restore the government elected by the people and to take Myanmar towards democracy. Under this, a large number of boycotts, strikes and other methods are being used. In recent times, due to the action of the army on the protesters, there has been a decrease in the street demonstrations. In such a situation, the method of civil disobedience is being adopted for the demonstration.
More than two thousand people have been arrested
It has been told that so far, 247 protesters have been shot and killed by the army across the country. On Sunday, a protestor removing police barricades was shot and killed. The heat of the demonstrations in Myanmar is now being seen all over the world. Protesters have also raised their voices against the military in Times Square in Tocto, Taipei and New York City. So far more than 2,345 people have been arrested.
