Once again the havoc of Coronavirus has been seen in Britain. The reason behind this is the delta variant, which is spreading rapidly. In the last 24 hours, 42,302 new cases of virus infection have been reported and 49 more people have died. This is the highest daily number of cases since January 15, when 55,761 cases were reported. The increase in cases comes at a time when all lockdown restrictions are going to be lifted in most parts of Britain from next Monday. UK Health Minister Sajid Javid announced that two-thirds of adults in the UK have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine
Sajid Javid said on Twitter, ‘Now two-thirds of adults in the UK have received both doses of the vaccine. We have achieved our target in about a week. This is a great achievement. Thanks to everyone who came forward. Vaccine is our shield against the virus. The British government delayed the relaxation of lockdown restrictions until 19 July, so that two-thirds of the country’s adults could get both doses of the vaccine. In addition, almost all adults can be given at least one dose of the vaccine. People are being rapidly vaccinated in Britain.
Johnson said thank you to the people who got the vaccine
Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised this achievement of getting the vaccine to two-thirds of adults on Twitter. He thanked the people who came forward and helped other people get the vaccine. Johnson said, ‘barely 8 months after the first vaccine dose, two-thirds of adults in Britain have been given both doses. Thanks to everyone who came forward and helped others. It is because of you that we have been able to carefully ease restrictions next week. If you are above 18 years of age, book both your doses now.
Increasing infection due to delta variants
The latest data from the ‘Department of Health and Social Care’ (DHSC) shows that 8,11,92,857 vaccine doses have been administered in the UK so far. Out of this, 4,60,37,090 people (87.4 percent) have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 3,51,55,767 people (66.7 percent) have been given both doses of the vaccine. It is believed that through vaccination, people can be saved from hospitalization and their death. Currently the infection is increasing rapidly in the UK. The Delta variant of COVID-19 is largely responsible for this.
