China Protests: Apple has accelerated preparations to relocate manufacturing out of China in response to current protests, significantly in China’s Zhengzhou ‘iPhone City’ plant. The protests prompted Apple to make plans to relocate its manufacturing to Asia, particularly India and Vietnam.
As per Wall Street Journal, Apple can be aiming to minimise its reliance on Taiwanese assemblers led by Foxconn Technology Group.
According to sources, a Foxconn manufacturing facility in China’s Zhengzhou employs over 300,000 folks to fabricate iPhones and different Apple merchandise. According to market analysis agency Counterpoint Research, Zhengzhou alone accounted for roughly 85 % of the iPhone Pro portfolio at one level.

Violent demonstrations at Zhengzhou
In late November, violent demonstrations erupted at Foxconn’s largest iPhone manufacturing in Zhengzhou. Several social media posts confirmed employees demonstrating over salaries and dealing situations at Apple’s China iPhone facility.
Hundreds of Foxconn staff demonstrated in Zhengzhou, China. The rebellion was sparked by accusations of underpaid salaries and the plant’s strict COVID-19 restrictions. Workers have been seen breaking surveillance CCTVs with sticks in a few of the protest movies that circulated on the web.
As the state of affairs deteriorated, Foxconn issued an official assertion by which it apologised. The incident was brought on by a “technical fault,” based on the Apple provider.

Apple has revealed a delay within the arrival of iPhone 14 Pro fashions. The “COVID-19 restrictions have temporarily disrupted the major iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max assembly facilities situated in Zhengzhou, China,” based on the enterprise. “Currently, the facility is running at a drastically reduced capacity. We are emphasizing the health and safety of our supply chain workers, as we have done during the COVID-19 outbreak.”
