Writer Lovani says that the documents are probably not being made public because it is afraid of opening up the secrets that are associated with the royal family and the partition of India.

UK Cabinet Blocks Publication of Mountbatten Diary-Letters: The British government has blamed all the efforts of a writer for four years. The government has clearly stated that it will not make public the diaries and letters of the last Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten and his wife Edwina Mountbatten. To make them public, writer Andrew Lovani has spent four years and nearly two and a half million rupees. Lovani believes that the diary can reveal many secrets related to India and Edwina. A report by the Guardian stated that in 2010, Mountbatten’s diary and Edwina’s letters were described as ‘safe for the country’.
The diary and letters known as Broadland Archives were purchased by Southampton University in 2010 for £ 2.8 million. Funding was taken from many people for this. It was then said to ensure the access of these documents to the people. Lovani, who wrote a book on Mountbatten, says he has been struggling for documents since 2017. But he did not get success because the government has ordered the university not to make some documents public.
Fear of big secret
Lovani says that the documents are probably not being made public because it is afraid of opening up the secrets that are associated with the royal family and the Partition of India (Lord Mountbatten Diary). Lord Mountbatten had a relationship with the royal family, he was the uncle of Prince Philip. It is also being said that deep secrets related to Mountbatten and Edwina’s personal life may also be hidden in the documents. According to the British newspaper Express, Mountbatten’s wife Edwina belonged to a wealthy family and her father was a British MP. Even after his marriage, many people have had relations.
Pamela Hicksey also wrote a book
His daughter Pamela Hicks has also written a book about Mountbatten. Pamela’s book is titled ‘Daughter of Empire: Life as a Mountbatten’ (Edwina Mountbatten Letters). In this book, he has made revelations about his father and mother’s relationships with other people. Pamela has told in the book how her childhood was spent and how her parents’ relationship was. Lord Mountbatten and Edwina were married in the year 1922. However, what is the deepest secret hidden in the diary and letters, it is known only by the Government of Britain.
