Police have named a “beloved” instructor who was discovered lifeless in a canal after officers arrested a person on suspicion of homicide.
Gary Bartram, 49, was discovered close to Deep Hayes Country Park in Longsdon close to Leek after 9am on Sunday, Staffordshire Police stated.
The pressure added a 49-year-old from Dundee has been arrested on suspicion of homicide. He stays on conditional bail whereas investigations proceed.
In an announcement, Mr Bartram’s household stated their “hearts are broken” over his demise.
Paying tribute to him, they stated: “Words cannot express the devastation at the sudden passing of a beloved husband.
“He has left behind a loving household, an enormous group of lifelong pals, and a neighborhood of scholars that he had made his life’s work to show and help in any manner he might.
“His warm, kind, fun-loving zest for life brought joy to all of us.
“He is irreplaceable, our hearts are damaged, and the household respectfully asks that we’re given time and area to grieve throughout this very tough time.”
Fire, police, and ambulance providers all attended the scene on Sunday morning.
