The BBC has suspended the unnamed presenter accused of paying an adolescent hundreds of kilos for sexually specific images.
The presenter allegedly first requested photos from the youth in 2020 once they have been aged 17 and has made a sequence of funds over time, in line with The Sun.
In an announcement, the broadcaster stated it “takes any allegations seriously” and has “robust internal processes in place to proactively deal with such allegations”.
The BBC web site reported that the company had been “in touch with the police” along with its personal enquiries.
The company stated that whereas it first grew to become conscious of a criticism in May, “new allegations” of a “different nature” have been put to it on Thursday.
In addition to its personal inside inquiries, it has been “in touch with external authorities, in line with our protocols”.
“We can also confirm a male member of staff has been suspended,” the BBC stated.
“It is important that these matters are handled fairly and with care.”
