Indeed, the danger in Ukraine is not over yet. Ukraine’s defense ministry, major banks and military were attacked in a series of cyberattacks on Tuesday amid the threat of Russian aggression. There is no indication of a more serious cyber attack under the guise of this attack. In technical parlance, this is being described as a ‘Distributed Denial of Service’ (DDoS) attack, which means targeting a server and flooding it with Internet data, so that normally incoming data is disrupted. At least 10 websites in Ukraine have been shut down due to this attack. These include the websites of the Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs and Culture.

Apart from this, the websites of the two largest public sector banks were also affected. In this type of attack, a huge amount of ‘junk data’ is sent to the website, due to which the website does not open.
