Islamabad: Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday said that all disputes with India should be resolved peacefully through dialogue. Bajwa said Islamabad believes in adopting the path of diplomacy to resolve all pending issues, including Kashmir, to “keep the flames out of our region”.
General Bajwa said this on the last day of the two-day “Islamabad Security Dialogue” conference, in which Pakistani and international policy experts took part to discuss emerging challenges to international security under the theme “Comprehensive Security: Reimagining International Cooperation”. took.
The army chief said that as a third of the world, including the Gulf region and elsewhere, is involved in some form of conflict and war, “it is important that we keep the flames out of our territory.” General Bajwa said, “Pakistan believes in adopting the path of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve all pending issues, including the Kashmir dispute, and if India agrees to do so, it is ready to move forward on this front.” ”
Bajwa’s peace proposal is seeing wider implications as he has indirectly suggested a three-tier dialogue between India, Pakistan and China to establish an inclusive peace. The Army Chief said that apart from the Kashmir dispute, the India-China border dispute is also a matter of concern for Pakistan. He also said, “We want this to be resolved soon through dialogue and diplomacy.”
General Bajwa said, “I believe that it is time for the political leadership of the region to rise above its emotional and other prejudices and break the shackles of history so that the nearly three billion people of the region can find peace and prosperity.” However, Bajwa alleged that the obstinate attitude of Indian leaders was a hindrance in this.
Regarding the incident of an Indian missile falling into Pakistani territory last month, Bajwa said that it is a serious matter. “We expect India to present before Pakistan and the world evidence that India’s weapons are safe,” he said. Significantly, India had clarified in a statement issued on March 11 that this missile was accidentally fired.
