Trains collide head-on in Greece: At least 32 individuals have been killed and 85 injured after two trains collided head-on in Greece late on Tuesday. The circumstances of the crash are nonetheless unclear.
The governor of the Thessaly area stated a passenger practice travelling from Athens to the northern metropolis of Thessaloniki collided with a cargo practice outdoors the town of Larissa in central Greece. “The collision was very strong,” stated governor Konstantinos Agorastos. Footage confirmed footage of derailed carriages, badly broken with damaged home windows and thick plumes of smoke, in addition to particles strewn throughout the highway. Rescue staff have been seen carrying torches in carriages on the lookout for trapped passengers.
“The evacuation of passengers is under way in very difficult conditions given the severity of the collision of the two trains,” fireplace brigade spokesperson Vassilis Varthakogiannis stated in a televised tackle.
Sources stated about 350 individuals have been travelling on the passenger practice.
