Xiaomi has shared a list of all the MI and Redmi devices for which the company is discontinuing software support on its Security Center website. As we mentioned, there are a total of 70 Xiaomi smartphones in the list, out of which 41 are MI and 29 are Redmi smartphones and tablets. The end of software support means that the company will no longer release any new updates for these older devices. The latest smartphone in the EOS (End of Support) list is Xiaomi Mi 9 SE.
Xiaomi says that security updates generally include the latest security patches, fixes to security vulnerabilities and other security improvements. Xiaomi says that the company usually maintains security updates for at least 2 years after the first shipment of a certain device model. However, it has also been clarified that the company may release necessary updates or fixes for these devices at the time of any special event.
On the EOS page Xiaomi wrote (translated) “We may support security updates for some models for 3 years or more, subject to actual conditions. If a very serious security vulnerability is detected, So we can provide you with the necessary security fixes even if your device is no longer supported.”
Xiaomi last updated this list on March 29. The company says that it keeps updating the list of EOS devices from time to time. You can check your device through this link.
