After the new privacy policy of WhatsApp, users are constantly worried about their privacy and total of these users have started using other chat apps like Signal and Telegram.
European Union consumer groups have filed a complaint against Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp over privacy updates. Groups say WhatsApp is unfairly pressurizing users to accept a new privacy update and is in violation of EU rules.
The European Consumer Organization (BEUC) filed a complaint on Monday about the way WhatsApp has changed its terms of service and privacy policy, saying they are not transparent or easily understood by users.
With the introduction of privacy updates by WhatsApp earlier this year, many users switched to other chat apps like Signal and Telegram due to privacy concerns. Concerns are being raised about WhatsApp’s privacy policy update that these changes will help Facebook collect more personal information about users.
WhatsApp is forcing customers
Monique Goyens, Director General of BEUC, said, “WhatsApp has been bombarding users with aggressive and persistent on-screen messages for months to force them to accept its new terms of use and privacy policy. ‘
Monique said, ‘They are telling users that their app service will be stopped if they do not accept the new terms. Yet consumers do not know what they are actually accepting. The BEUC and consumer rights groups from eight member states have filed complaints with the EU Executive Commission and the network of consumer authorities.
The matter is also going on in India regarding the new privacy policy
Let us tell you that many cases have been registered in India regarding the privacy policy of WhatsApp. In this regard, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) had ordered an inquiry, against which WhatsApp had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. While hearing this matter, the Delhi High Court had recently refused to interfere in the investigation of the CCI.
