In a good news for its customers, Amazon has allowed users to change the voice of its virtual assistant Alexa. Customers will now be able to add the voice of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan to their Alexa-enabled devices. With this feature, users will be able to ask ‘Amit ji’ the weather, time and other questions. Notably, there are some restrictions for this feature as well and it is a paid service.
Both the Amazon Echo speaker and the Amazon Android app support the new voice option. With this, Big B will be able to talk to users in both Hindi and English on Amazon Echo devices and only in English on Amazon Android app. The voice feature for ‘Amit Ji’ is currently available for Rs 99 instead of Rs 299 for a limited period.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can enable Amitabh Bachchan’s voice on your device.
Step 1: On your Android device, open the Amazon app.
Step 2: Tap on the microphone icon near the Amazon search bar.
Step 3: Say “Alexa, I want you to introduce me to Amitji”
Step 4: Alexa will then redirect you to the product page “Amitabh Bachchan – celebrity voice on Alexa”.
Step 5: After going through the details of Celebrity Voice service, click on ‘Buy Now’ and make the payment.
Step 6: After the purchase is over, say “Alexa, enable Amit Ji wake word”.
Step 7: When you initiate your request with “Amit ji”, Alexa will respond to you.

Amazon will soon allow users to type and chat with Alexa
Amazon is testing typing capability for Alexa on iOS devices that will allow users to send messages to Alexa instead of using voice, especially in public places or in meetings where voice commands are awkward. The new feature being rolled out as part of a public preview was first spotted by The Ambient Publications.
The new feature is available for iOS users in the Alexa Smart Home app. To access it, tap on the keyboard icon that appears at the top left of the main menu of the app. According to an Amazon spokesperson, ‘Type with Alexa’ will allow you to interact with Alexa without using voice, which means you can say whatever you currently want to Alexa using your Alexa mobile app. can also be typed.
