The company was founded in 2017 by British billionaire Richard Branson. Virgin Orbit is focusing on launching small satellites.
Richard Branson said during the company’s launch webcast that the great thing about using Boeing 747s is that we can put them into any orbit from anywhere in the world. He said that only a handful of countries in the world have the capability to send satellites from their countries into space. Other countries can now use Virgin Orbit. They need to contact us. The company is planning six launches this year. Two of these launches will be for Britain’s Royal Air Force.
Virgin Orbit is part of the Virgin Group. It provides launch service for small satellites. The company has a team of approximately 300 employees, led by Dan Hart. Recently, the company’s Chief Operating Officer Tony Gingis said that this is going to be a banner year for him. He said that there has been a steady improvement in flights one after the other.
