Micro-blogging platform Twitter (Twitter) tried to buy the invite-only audio chat app Club House for about $ 400 million, but ultimately it did not work. This information has been given in the media report. According to a report by TechCrunch, this conversation between the two lasted for several months but then it was not continued later. TechCrunch itself confirmed the conversation between the two companies with a source familiar with this conversation.
Keeping in mind the growing popularity of Clubhouse, many tech companies are working on one of its rival apps and Twitter has also started working on Spaces on Android. Twitter’s space is currently available on iOS beta, it is yet to be rolled out on Android devices. Under the feature, users can create a space, which can include followers in view of talking. On Twitter, anyone can listen to this conversation, however, whoever will get the opportunity to speak, only the control will be with the host.
Clubhouse is currently available on the Apple App Store and has been downloaded over 80 million times. The company is working on its Android version. Facebook is also working on creating its own social audio app like Clubhouse. Even Microsoft-owned LinkedIn is working on a similar app.
On the other hand, Clubhouse is a comparatively new platform that came out as social audio last year. Since its launch, the app has glorified live audio conversion among a group and the idea has been embraced by celebrities, tech CEOs and general users alike.
However, the app is facing stiff competition to move forward. With every new feature in the social media space, big technology companies like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are already working on the version of such platforms. The current user base of these platforms is in millions worldwide.
