Huawei as well as Honor are now continuously losing their share in the Chinese market due to lack of components and new launches following US sanctions.
I live No 1 In China
After the fall of Huawei, smartphone brand Vivo has reached the top position in China and has outpaced its nearest rival Oppo due to its users product line-up. According to Counterpoint’s China Smartphone Weekly Tracker, the battle for supremacy in China’s smartphone market is heating up, with the top spot no longer secure.
Based on the consistently strong performance of its newly launched budget models Y3 and S9, Vivo was able to overtake Oppo during the 11th week (8-14 March). After this again in the 13th week, it overtook Oppo. Ever since the Huawei company struggled due to US sanctions, other Chinese smartphone makers have been eager to take full advantage of this situation.
Vevo’s aggressive attitude
Senior analyst Yang Wang said, “Vivo and Oppo are adopting aggressive market and product strategies and we expect both brands to remain in the top position in 2021.” Oppo’s strategy was aggressive in January and February this year and it became the No. 1 smartphone brand in China with the successful rebranding of the Reno series and the strong momentum of the A series in mid-range.
Huawei as well as Honor are now continuously losing their share in the Chinese market due to lack of components and new launches following US sanctions. Its inventory for major components is decreasing and it does not appear to be capable of components for 5G smartphones.
Huawei is constantly losing money
The situation is that Huawei is offering Honor as a separate brand. Honor is also being kept as a separate brand because of the fear of decreasing Huawei’s market share in China. In August 2019 and September 2019, Vivo was one of the first brands in the market to launch Vivo 5G devices with Nex 3 5G and Iqoo Pro 5G respectively.
