Through a blog post, the company has informed that Netflix is now going to change the rules of its subscription services soon. In the blog title ‘Paying to Share Netflix Outside Your Household’, the company has said that if you share the Netflix password with someone else, then you will have to pay an extra charge. If the subscriber wants to share his Netflix password to a friend or other person, then that other person will also be given a username and password for that.
The US-based streaming company will soon launch a trial in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru in which main subscribers will have to pay extra for sharing account passwords outside their home. Outside members will be given a separate login and password. It is reported that the company will separately implement a security layer on the main subscriber’s account so that if any person other than the main subscriber tries to login to the account, then access will be blocked for him. In this case, he will have to take a separate login and password.
The company has mentioned many times that users who share account passwords with their friends cause a lot of damage to the company. Now finally Netflix has decided to charge extra from such users. For this, the company has introduced two features named ‘Add an Extra Member’ and ‘Transfer Profile to a New Account’. For this, users will have to pay CLP 2,380 (approximately Rs 225) in Chile, USD 2.99 (approximately Rs 227) in Costa Rica and PEN 7.9 (approximately Rs 160) in Peru. Through both these features, the company will try to target users who share passwords with other people.
However, the company has not yet added any such feature to its profile in India. The company believes that India is a sensitive market and before adding such features here, the company will have to reduce the extra charges so that the users of India can easily adopt it.
