The price of OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 in India is Rs 1,999, which is not very expensive, but still offers many good features and functions in this price. The company has launched them as the successor of OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z. They look similar to the old model, but come with some differences. Are these headsets the best neckbench wireless headset ever under Rs.2000? Find out in this review.
big drivers
Like the Bullets Wireless 2 and earlier Bullets Wireless Z, their design looks familiar. If you’ve used OnePlus headsets before, you can easily identify the brand by looking at the new model’s flexible neckband, the familiar shape of the earpiece, and the short cable that runs from the end of the neckband to the earpiece.
As mentioned earlier, some differences have also been given in this. As such, you will find it lacking in-line remote and microphone. Buttons for volume, playback, voice assistant activation and pairing are now fitted on the left module of the neckband. The eartips are also a bit small. I found its fit and user experience very similar to the old model, including its comfortable fit, noise isolation level, which was quite good. It is rated IP55 for dust and water resistance.
The inner side of the left module has a USB Type C port for charging, while the right module has been left blank for the company logo. Like the older models, they can be turned on or off by detaching or bringing together the earpieces, which are attached to the magnets. Because of this, they can sometimes be turned on accidentally, such as when kept in a purse or back-pack. It takes a little pulling to separate them.
The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 has large dynamic drivers of 12.4mm. For wireless connectivity, you get Bluetooth 5 with which there is support for SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs. They pair quickly with OnePlus 6T and subsequent OnePlus smartphones. The Bullets Wireless Z featured the Quick Switch feature, allowing for quick switching between two recently used devices, a feature no longer offered in the Bullets Wireless Z2. In the sales package, you get three pairs of silicone eartips that come in different sizes. Also a short charging cable is also available.
OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 also has fast charging feature. It has been claimed that in ten minutes of charge, it reaches the battery level to 70 percent. That much battery will be enough for about 20 hours of playback. I found that the earphones took 20 minutes to fully charge. Because of this, they become the fastest charging earphones at present.
The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 is said to give 30 hours of backup on a single charge, but with me it could last 20 hours continuously at 60 percent volume. This would nonetheless be considered a good backup time. They prove to be more useful with fast charging.
more base than ever
The 12.4mm drivers provided in the wearable make a big difference. This has improved the sound quality. Notably, the sonic signature has seen many changes. The Bullets Wireless Z2 now delivers a slightly more punchy sound, as well as a balanced level of clarity and detail, as the company introduced in the Bullets Wireless Z in 2020.
A big advantage of larger drivers is seen in the volume level, when the sound becomes quite loud only after going to 50 percent volume. This means I rarely had to go over the volume level of 80 percent, which is well within the tolerability on many wireless headphones.
If you listen to them in an environment where there is more noise then it proves to be beneficial. With this, they also make up for the lack of active noise cancellation. In Realme Buds Wireless 2, this feature is available by spending a little more money. In indoors, I didn’t have to turn the volume up too high. But, in the outdoors, it was able to easily suppress the outside noises giving a good sound experience. I enjoy playing audiobooks and games through earphones while traveling.
I listened to The Great Divide by Velvetine and the aggressive sonic signature of the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 was evident. The fast, punchy beat of this soundtrack sounded very powerful. Interestingly enough, the base felt more deep and grounded. It did cause a bit of fatigue at high volumes though.
I also heard the Hocus Pocus of Focus on it, which showed complete control of the device on the base. This showed how well the mid-range and highs were being maintained on the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2. Loved the level of details. The elements of the track were quite crisp.
Connectivity on the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 has been stable and reliable for me. It worked flawlessly up to a distance of 3 meters from the source device. Their call quality also proved to be very good in both indoor and outdoor conditions. The neckband’s microphone worked well even in noisy environments.
Verdict
Wireless audio technology is constantly improving. This means that now you can get a better sound product even in the price range of 2 thousand or around which was not possible till few years back. The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2 offer better value for money at this price point, but it doesn’t impress as much in the segment as the original Bullets Wireless Z did in 2020. These are good earphones which offer some better features like fast charging, good battery life at this price. But, here the price will also depend on the customer’s thinking as to which offer he goes with.
By spending a little more money, the Realme Buds Wireless 2 can be seen which is a great headset. It has LDAC Bluetooth codec and active noise cancellation. Still, if you are a fan of OnePlus and are looking for something reliable that has good battery life, fast charging and strong bass sound, then you can go for the OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z2.
