Speculation about the iPhone 13 working as a satellite phone has created a stir in the entire mobile phone industry. Hopefully other phone developers can also adopt this technology.
The company can launch iPhone 13 soon.
The iPhone 13 is going to be Apple’s first device with the capability of satellite communication using low-Earth-orbit technology. This means that even if your iPhone does not have a mobile network, you will still be able to call and text with your contacts. Although there is no certainty about this, at least two sources have confirmed that the iPhone 13 will have satellite communication facility. Meanwhile, bad news has come for Indian users through some leaks that the satellite feature will not work in iPhone 13 for India.
A follow-up from Bloomberg suggests that this will be a limited feature. This satellite feature on the upcoming iPhone 13 allows users to connect with emergency contacts in areas without network coverage. According to Bloomberg, this would include a radio connection to satellites that are in low Earth orbit. Messages sent through this service will have a character limit lower than normal and will be shown with a gray bubble instead of blue or green as you see on iMessage.
Messages sent using the Emergency Messages via Satellite feature will be able to bypass the Do Not Disturb downtime settings on the receiver’s device as it is for emergency.
iPhone 13 will help in emergency like this
The iPhone 13 is also likely to come with another feature that will allow users to report emergencies. iPhone will ask users what kind of emergency they are in. For example, it could be a car accident, a fire or a plane crash. Users will also have to tell the device what is included in this emergency. The device will collect the information and send it to your emergency contacts along with your location and medical ID details (which you feed into your iPhone’s Health app). According to the report, you will be able to choose who should be notified using this feature.
The extra emergency features will require some hardware, which is likely to come with the upcoming iPhone 13. However, according to Bloomberg, these features will not be available before next year.
Other phone developers will also follow the iPhone 13
Speculation about the iPhone 13 working as a satellite phone has created a stir in the entire mobile phone industry. People are talking about this kind of feature of Apple. And even though this may seem like a non-essential feature to many people – who rely on broadband networks inside their homes with no network coverage – it is going to be beneficial for those who never want a mobile network. Can get stuck in far flung places without it. After Apple launches this technology on the upcoming iPhone, other phone developers can also adopt this technology.
