The Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Operations Authority (SOUADTGA) on Sunday said it will develop the “country’s first electric vehicle-only area” at Kevadiya in Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced the creation of the country’s first electric vehicle city in the tribal-dominated Narmada district of Gujarat’s Kevadia area on World Environment Day. Tourists will also be provided with battery buses instead of diesel. Assistance will be provided to local residents to buy three wheeler e-vehicles.
Discount will be available in the purchase of electric vehicles

He said that the e-rickshaw plying company will initially have to run at least 50 rickshaws in the area under the authority. In the list of e-rickshaw drivers, priority will be given to the drivers already driving e-rickshaws including local women.
‘There will be less air and noise pollution in the city’
The authority said, “There is no polluting industry in Kevadiya. The city has two hydroelectric power plants that generate abundant eco-friendly electricity. Allowing only electric vehicles in the city will reduce air and noise pollution and make tourists feel better.
