Personal data of more than 533 million Facebook users from more than 100 countries is reported to be leaked. These include more than 6 million (6 million) Indian users. This may be the biggest violation in the history of this social media company. These include phone number, Facebook ID and bio, full name, date of birth, place and in some cases e-mail has been leaked.
Data available for free
Alon Gal, CTO of cybercrime intelligence company Hudson Rock, found the leak on Saturday and reported it on Twitter. Gal is the same researcher who informed about the leak of the same database via telegram boat in January. Where at that time, the person behind the boat was selling the leaked data to those who were ready to pay for it. The difference at this time is that data is now available free in low-level hacking forums.
According to Business Insider, Gal said that such large size data contained personal information such as phone numbers of many Facebook users, with the help of which cyber criminals can take advantage of social engineering attacks or hacking attempts.
This company is giving access to Amazon Prime on recharge below Rs 300, without medical test, life insurance cover of 4 lakhs
Facebook told old data
The leak was reported after a flaw in the database, which was fixed by Facebook in 2019. But very few people change their phone number often, so the accuracy of data can be very high. Wherever before, this data was kept by a person for a cell, who was selling a phone number or Facebook user ID for $ 20 or five thousand dollars through a telegram boat. At the same time, it is now largely available and accessible to anyone.
Facebook spokesperson said that this is old data, which was reported to be leaked earlier in 2019. He found the case in August 2019 and fixed it.
