A Soyuz rocket carrying 36 OneWeb satellites lifted off from a launchpad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Wednesday, according to photos released by the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
Roscosmos chief Dmitry Rogozin said on Wednesday that his agency wants OneWeb to guarantee that its satellites will not be used against Russia, the report said. Rogozin said that without them Russia would cancel Friday’s scheduled launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
OneWeb will offer broadband across the world through its 650 satellites. In the year 2020, this company was saved from bankruptcy by Britain and Bharti Global. Eutelsat and SoftBank have also invested in it. Like OneWeb, Starlink also uses small Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites to provide Internet access. Like billionaire Elon Musk’s company Starlink and OneWeb, companies in many countries are working to make ‘Satellite Internet’ accessible to the people.
In December last year too, OneWeb launched 36 communications satellites into space. These launches took place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. OneWeb is launching satellites into orbit as part of its plan to provide high-speed internet worldwide.
Elon Musk’s company Starlink is also preparing to launch its service in many countries. India is also included in this. The company is preparing to make its service live in ten rural Lok Sabha of India. SpaceX aims to provide high-speed Internet access to remote areas using the satellite group under Starlink.
